5 Things: Literary Goodness Edition

Hello and Happy Friday! Hopefully, your week has been allergy-free and filled with some lovely Fall weather. Whatever the case, check out this week's "Five Things":

1) "Introducing Your Kids To Great Literature" - John McCormick's article is a good read and reiterates the need to introduce the next generation to beloved literary works. In an our electronic era, it seems more important that ever before.

 2) Mark Darcy is... dead?! - Helen Fielding's long-awaited third installment of the Bridget Jones "saga" is due out next month but, unfortunately, it appears that she knocks off Mark Darcy. All these years later Bridget is a 50-something widow with two children. It bears mentioning that Mark Darcy is not the only reason I read these books (annually) but he is one of the reasons. I'm a little disappointed although I guess I can see that marital bliss would be a little boring for another chapter in the life of Bridget. What do you think?

3) "The Best Writing Tips From William Faulkner" -These are quite brilliant-not that I'd expect anything less from William Faulkner-and might serve as a good way to reinvigorate your "writing bug."

4) RIP Tom Clancy - Although not an avid reader of Mr. Clancy's work, I am grateful to him for making readers out of several of the men in my life who might not otherwise pick up a book. My thoughts and prayers are with his family today.

5) RIP Pastor Chuck - Last but not least this man was a major influence on my teen years (I'd listen to him on the radio every morning). He preached through the Bible which was a great blessing to me and many, many others. I'll be praying for his family today.

Okay, that's all for now! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with plenty of good literature and tea!
