Tried it Tuesday: Frosty Vox Box Part 2

As I got to writing Part 1 of this post I realized that all the goodies in the Frosty Vox Box from required more than one blog post... But I couldn't wait to share everything so both posts are going live on the same day!

Here are the rest of the fun things I enjoyed:

  Fruit Vines Bites
Cherry flavored candy is not generally my favorite thing. However, these are really a nice flavor and disappeared shortly after the bag was opened. (Don't worry, I wasn't the only one eating them.) The best I can describe them is a slightly similar flavor to Twizzlers but in really convenient bite-sized pieces.
The conclusion: Yummy... and all gone! ☆☆☆☆☆

Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane Decaf Green Tea
Decaf was a winner in this case but I was a little nervous about the peppermint flavor. I opened the packet and the peppermint scent was really strong. Even the first sip of tea was super-strong. Then my mum (who was enjoying the tea with me) suggested we use eggnog in lieu of milk and that was the best suggestion. The eggnog toned down the peppermint and brought out the pleasing vanilla hints in this tea and some amazing smokier tones. We were hooked and both of us made a second cup with the same tea bags. I will be buying this tea again!
The conclusion: Fantastic with some festive eggnog. ☆☆☆☆☆

McCormick Gourmet Thyme
I have a confession to make about Thyme: I had never actually cooked with this spice  until it arrived in my Frost Vox Box. The thing about growing up in an Italian family is  that my spice repertoire was pretty much limited to things like Garlic, Basil and Oregano.  So, I felt there was a learning  curve associated with the task of trying this spice. Which is why I did some experimenting and came up with a recipe of my own! (See below)
The conclusion: Very fresh spice and an easy-open bottle. ☆☆☆☆☆

Lemon Thyme Drop Biscuits

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter (cut into small cubes)
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 Tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 Tbsp Thyme leaves
1 small lemon (grated zest and juice)

Combine butter flour, baking powder and salt in mixer. (On a low speed so you don't have powder flying everywhere.)

Add milk, Thyme, grated lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix until well-combined. (Dough will be on the sticky side.)

Spoon dough onto an un-greased cookie sheet at least 1-inch apart.

Bake at 375 degrees for 18-20 minutes until bottoms and peaks (see picture to the right) are golden brown.
