5 Things: Stranger Moth Pie Edition

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a great week like this little guy who met someone really special and is absolutely delighted. (Tissue alert!) But even if you didn't have that great of a week or the heat is just getting to you (it's 102 right now... yikes!), we've arrived at Friday. It's the day to look forward to the weekend with a sense of hope that you might just get to enjoy your best for an extra half an hour if your neighbors don't mow their lawn at the crack of dawn. And, of course, you get to check out another "5 Things." Enjoy!

1) Ok, if you haven't finished Stranger Things Season 3, you may not want to watch this parody (technically a spoiler) with Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert. Apologies in advance because this song will probably get stuck in your head!

2) Apparently, this Chick-fil-As in Nashville is a happening place to eat... and sing! If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can watch the whole video... dare you not to sing, too.

3) This week's The Moth Radio Hour titled "All the World's a Stage" has to be one of my favorite compilations to date: The eloquent Teller (the silent half of Penn&Teller) talks about his launch into magic. Musician Gaelynn Lea advocates for accessibility at performance venues. Daniel Sperling finds the spiritual community that he never knew he needed. And Carmen Aguirre's gut instincts literally save her life.

4) On one of many research rabbit holes this week, this 2008 article about the character of Joan Crawford came to light. The well-known legacy of her daughter Christina's book Mommie Dearest (and subsequent film... "No wire hangers!") is countered by memories of others who knew Crawford well. I was particularly intrigued by her rival Bette Davis' take on things. Definitely an interesting read!

5) Another research rabbit hole landed on Fred Harvey and this informative blog post titled "How Pie Tamed the West." Do be warned: Inevitably, you will come away with a new appreciation for 1800's history and a sudden craving for dessert.

Okay, that's all for now. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
