5 Things: Blockbuster Pancakes Edition

Happy Friday! Hope that you all had a great week like the treasure hunter who struck gold... um... bronze in Scotland. That reminds me of growing up in Charleston, South Carolina where my siblings and I would dig up pieces of blue and white broken china in our yard. The pieces were probably from a plantation once upon a time. We wanted to be Archaeologists until we realized that you don't really get to keep what you dig up.

Well, even if you didn't discover any historically significant treasure in your travels this week, it is Friday! Time to check out "5 Things" to get you through the day until the weekend. Enjoy!

1) Exciting news: Guys and Dolls is currently available to watch on YouTube for free! (And the legit type of free.) The film adaptation of the musical features a fabulous cast including Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, and Jean Simmons. "Luck be a lady tonight..."

2) Last year RetailDive featured a lengthy but no less interesting article about the rise and fall of Blockbuster. Great read if you have the time to indulge! Why am I bringing this up now? Well, that's because the last Blockbuster has become an AirBnB! Genius idea for people who want to revisit the good old days when you had to travel in your car to a store that may or may not have the movie that you're looking for.

3) I cannot wait to try these Chinese Scallion Pancakes! The Chinese restaurants in my area don't serve them so it will be up to me to make a batch. Crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. You can check out the full recipe/blog post here.

4) So, How many Lowe's could Rob Lowe rob if Rob Lowe could rob Lowe's? There definitely seems to be a hilarious celebrity endorsement/advertising opportunity here but, sadly, Lowe's doesn't seem to agree. Bummer!

5) Fellow word nerds will be excited to discover that Merriam-Webster now has its own podcast! The first episode tackles dinner vs supper. In my college years, my thoroughly Southern bff and I would regularly discuss the use of "supper" vs "dinner." (She said "supper" while I said "dinner.") Irregardless, there's also a nod to Chuck-town. I'm definitely going to listen regularly.

Okay, that's all for now. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
